Greetings. Replaced TPS on 2001 Suzuki Vitara, 125k miles (J20 engine) due to random, jerky "hiccup" miss at all speeds. The one I replaced looked brand new, but I replaced it anyway and it cleared up. Less than 1 year later the problem has returned. Ready to replace again but think I'm missing something. I replaced the PCV valve and have the throttle body off to clean. Apart from a missing gasket, the TB doesn't look that bad so somebody's been in there before. However, the intake manifold is filthy. Should I try to clean it up? What might cause multiple failures of the TPS? Thanks.
Well, if things get clogged up inside the throttle position sensor measures where the throttle is and it will be in the wrong position if it's gummed up. So I'd clean the throttle first
