Hi Scotty, I have a 2004 Ford F-250 6.0 turbo diesel and I’m having issues with my transmission. The gears are ok but when I shift into reverse or into drive I have a 3 second delay and then I feel a hard firm shift when it finally goes into reverse or into drive. My fluid level is good and it is not dirty either. What could be the cause?
Thanks!
Those 6.0s were a disaster all around, I’ve got a friend with one his has done the same since he bought it and he runs it that way and it’s done fine. I will say the transmission is weak on those trucks. Is it high mileage?
Yes it’s at 301K but I never had a problem with the trans before and I don’t tow or haul with it just daily drive it to work
@alvino_2010 if it’s never done that before then it could be a sign of wear. It’s hard to say honestly without tearing it open and looking at the insides. It’s a risk I mean as I said my friend has dealt with that since he bought his 6.0 and it’s up to about 320k mi. But if yours has never done that and just started recently me personally I’d find a very good transmission shop that’s spun up on Ford transmissions and tell them what’s going on and see what they say.
Ok I may do that. Thanks!
