Transmission Filter On 2016 Subaru Impreza

Hello, I have a 2016 Subaru Impreza 2.0 Sedan with 59,000 miles on it. I want to make sure to change my fluid before I can't. My local mechanic quoted me $250 plus to change the transmission fluid and filter. My local deal claims that I don't have to change it until I reach 100,000 miles. I recently saw a scotty video in which he changed the fluid on a honda. I noticed that he did not change the filter to the transmission. I was curious if the filter is worth changing. Thanks in advanced!

The 100,000 mile CVT fluid change interval is nonsense from Subaru of America, passed on by the dealers. In the Japanese home market Subaru recommends changing fluid every 36,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first. Not all transmissions have user-serviceable filters, those that do should have the filter changed along with the fluid.
