Transmission fluid flush? 2017 Ford Fusion SE.

I bought a used 2017 Ford Fusion SE from the dealer.  Automatic transmission.  18,800 miles.  I love this car and I want to do everything to keep it as long as possible.  I was thinking about doing a transmission fluid change in the near future, because I don't know how the previous owners took care of the car.  I was wondering, when it is time to change the transmission fluid, should I go for a transmission flush?

18k is a little early. Did you read the owner's manual about maintenance?

Also check out the ATF info in our FAQ.

Yes, I did. I just thought it would be a good idea to flush the transmission fluid so that I have nice new fluid, and I don't have to worry about it for awhile.

I don't want to be one of those people who have 100,000 miles and have never changed the fluid, and when they do the flush, it causes problems

The Fusion owner's manual says change it at 150,000 miles. If you want to play it safe, do it at 100,000.

Also, never flush, just drain and fill!

apparently some Fords have to be pumped out. The drain is not there or not accessible.

Ok, but if I just drain and fill, then I will have to drain it 3 times to have all new fluid.

no. You don't have to get every drop. Just adjust the interval appropriately.

Ok then, I will probably do two fluid drain

and refills in the next year or so, Thanks!

I did a transmission fluid CHANGE MYSELF at 20,000 miles!  Before I did the fluid change, I would experience a very slight 'jerking sensation' whenever I went from park into reverse, i.e. when backing out of a parking space.  BUT NOW.....NOW the transmission shifts TOTALLY SMOOTH!  You can't even tell that I shifted gears!  So all the people who say "ohhhhh 100,000 miles" or "ohhhh 150,000 miles".... you are TOTALLY WRONG!  Yeah, my transmission contains "lifetime fluid".  Let me translate that for you...If you have "lifetime fluid", that means that when your transmission DIES FROM NOT CHANGING THE FLUID, then it lasted the "lifetime" of the transmission! {black}:displeased:

I have a 2017 Ford Fusion SE...which now has slightly over 20,000 miles on the clock.

every vehicle I've ever owned or sat in, jerked slightly when shifting into drive or reverse.

Not a problem with a manual trans! Just saying.
