Transmission Fluid on a 2009 Toyota RAV4

Hey Scotty,

I have a 2009 Toyota RAV4 with the V6 engine and automatic 5-speed transmission. I bought when it had aroumd 115k miles and it has 116k miles now. I am not sure of the transmission fluid and differential fluid were ever changed on the vehicle. The transmission fluid does not look bad (not black or dark brown, but it doesn't look bright and pink either). Should I change the transmission fluid and differential fluid on the car? Or is it too late to change it now? What do you think?

Also, I have seen that the transmission dipstick has some surface corrosion on it. Does that indicate something? Or is it normal?

I’d change them both with OEM fluid.

Feel free to have a browse through this before you do the ATF -

Can you please post pictures/video of the corroded dipstick?

Thanks for that referral! How do I post a picture on here? So that I can show you the corrosion.

No problem. For posting pictures - https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/postid/183035/

Thanks! Here is the image: Notice how the upper part of the stick has some corrosion on it.

It shows me an error, when I click on the blank thumbnail. Maybe someone else can view it?

You should find the transmission fluid and filter change interval in the maintenance section of your owner's manual.  Usually it's around 50K miles.

Yes, in the manual it says to change ir around 60k miles, but I am not sure if it was changed and I don't know if I should do it now at 116k miles (in the case that it was never changed).
