I have a 2008 hyundai Elantra that starts and placed into drive, the car jerks and goes up in high gear. It moves off slowly and the Rev counter barely moves. When reversing, it reverses alright. One mechanic did a diagnostic (an error came up but idk what it said). He said it's the selenoid thingy, I changed that , problem persisted...he said the transmission is good and it maybe the computer or the wires going into it.
Took it to another mechanic and he said it's the transmission.
The car is about 180000 km driven and I still have a year left to pay, what do you think is wrong with it and is it worth fixing?
Well it sounds like to me it could be either or, I am not 100% sure but sounds like it could be both. I would say that it wouldn't be worth it to keep that car anymore and just try to get a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic of that year (2008).
