Hi Scotty, i bought a 2007 pontiac grand prix 3.8l. Automatic, really cheap, the guy that sold it to me said it needed a transmission the one in it wouldn't go into drive or reverse, its the 4t65-e trans, can i put a trans of the same model but out of a same year buick lacrosse? And is it ok to use a junkyard transmission? what should I look for when getting one from the junkyard? I dont want to get a bad one and install it to find out it dont work either, these trans are notorious for going out.

just wow. even if you had a working transmission already it's gonna cost you more than the cars worth to even swap them out... Junkyard transmissions are just that from Junkyard cars. You can't look inside of them so your just looking for cars that aren't totally destroyed. The reason why it's recommended is because it thousands of dollars cheaper than a new one which you probably can't get a new one for the car. Seems like a really bad car purchase to me.
