Which truck should I buy for my daughter?

She wants an F150.  We only have a budget of $7k.  I prefer a Toyota Tundra.  Is a Tundra with 230k miles a better truck mechanically than a F150 with 180k miles?  Yes there are a lot of other things to consider, but from a hi level, I'm thinking the Tundra is just a better made vehicle.  Thoughts?

unrealistic expectations.

She should come to terms with getting a car.

Generally, a Tundra is more reliable than an F150.  Tundras are generally more reliable than anything.  With F150s, it varies.

But at that budget generalities don’t matter so much.  A Tundra with frame rust and water damage to the electrical system won’t be reliable.

What matters more is how it was driven during those miles and how well it was maintained.  You have to inspect the individual trucks.

PS: take a look at carcomplaints.com and compare specific model years.  With both, some years are better than others.

Why not a Tacoma? It's still good quality and you might have a better chance in finding something lower mileage given it's a segment before Tundra. But 230k is just a lot of mileage; 180k is a lot too. You didn't state the year for each truck but those are very high mileages and any car will start requiring certain repairs as it gets older. How much does she plan on driving it? Daily driver or just once in a while?
