My grandpa's 2006 f150 automatic

His truck started not reversing till you give a decent amount of gas. But not even 10ft it will stop the truck jerking. Even when putting it into neutral pushing it backwards didn't even move. Seems like it's locked up maybe. Then when after putting the truck into Park, reverse, and neutral it would make a noise. I added a link to a video I took putting the truck into park and etc. At around 45 seconds is when it really makes the noise. Could you guys help me figure out what could be the problem or reasons for that noise? If you could help it would be very much appreciated.

What is the mileage? What's the condition of the transmission fluid? Is it low? Transmissions are powered by hydraulic action and if the fluid is not as the proper level, the transmission will slip or clunk, etc. I have a 1979 Pontiac Catalina. The transmission holds two gallons of fluid. It slowly leaks out and when it's even a pint low, the transmission will start to delay upshifting and downshifting. There are 8 pints in a gallon, and there are two gallons of fluid in the tranny, even 6.25% too low on transmission fluid messes with the transmission.

@justin-shepherd The mileage is 134,000. 1 year ago he changed transmission fluid. It wasn't low it was at the line recommended and was red.

Did your grandpa use OEM Ford fluid? More modern transmissions can be finicky with their fluid content.

@justin-shepherd he said he got it rebuilt or fixed from an mechanic shop near his old house he used to live at. So he doesn't know if they used OEM fluid.

All bets are off if that transmission was rebuilt. Modern transmissions are highly complex machines, and your stereotypical rebuilder rebuilds them just enough to get past the warranty period. You should've gotten a remanufactured transmission from Ford or a third party with a 3-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

@justin-shepherd Alright thank you for the information.

that does not look like a 2006 transmission. It looks brand new.

well guess what it broke again. Never fix/rebuild.
