Trying to avoid trouble but found it anyway

Scotty, I recently bought a used 2018 Ford Explorer and purposefully avoided the Ecoboost engine to avoid the turbo. After buying a truck with the V6 Duratec I discover the stupid design of the internal chain driven water pump on the Duratec 3.5L.  I have read that if you change your coolant more frequently, the water pumps will last longer.  What is your recommendation in dealing with this stupid design?  Frequent coolant changes?  Pre-emptively changing the water pump?  If yes, what mileage do you recommend changing the water pump?

Thanks and love the channel!

Brent

I would change the coolant every 3 years generally the pump either it will start leaking and you lose coolant or it will start rattling then you know it's time to change it
