Hello, I’m a teenager looking in the used car market to buy my first Car. I found a few options and I’m just making sure they are a good buy. I found a ‘08 Toyota Camry with 78k miles, a ‘16 Ford Fusion with 58k miles (2.0l ecoboost), and a 2014 Ford Focus with 52k miles. Again, curious on which would last a while and cheap to maintain. Thanks for your input.

Do you have any other options, within your area and budget?

I do, mainly under 15k like 2014 Honda Civic or some Mazda 3s, maybe some Subaru Imprezas. Reason why I thought of the fords was due to having more features than the Toyota. I’m mainly looking for Sedans. If you ave any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it, again thanks.

Ford's "ecoboost" engines are terrible. If the Focus has Ford's atrocious "PowerShift" automated transmission it will have endless problems that cannot be fixed.

The problem with the Camry is that year is in the range when the 4-cylinder engines had oil burning problems. (If it's a V6 it would be OK, though more difficult and expensive to service.)

Have a mechanic thoroughly check out any car you are serious about.

Thanks for letting for letting me know I didn’t know about the Ecoboosts being bad and again, Thanks for letting me know that the Toyota Camry having oil burning issues. Yes it’s the I4 engine.Appreciate you letting me know and helping out.
