Toyota 4Runner vs Lexus RX350

Hi Scotty, I'm in the market to buy an SUV and was debating between a 2014 4runner or a 2013 Rx 350. Both have 100k miles on them and clean carfax reports. How can I tell if they've had their transmissions serviced? If they haven't, should I go ahead and do one since it's already got 100k miles? Which of these 2 would be more reliable and last another 10 years?

Drive them both and see what you like. The 4Runner is more like a truck. The RX is more like a car disguised in an SUV/crossover body. You can do more with the 4Runner, but the RX is more comfortable. Both great choices imho, depending on your needs.

I can’t believe used car prices these days. It’s insane.

You haven't mention the price of the two vehicles. Both of these vehicles have different purposes in mind. If you want a adventurous vehicle that does a decent job off-road, I would get the Toyota 4Runner. If you want a vehicle that has decent ride quality and can be used on a daily basis, I would get the Lexus Rx350 or the cheaper cousin the Toyota Highlander. Obviously, the Toyota 4runner would last longer than Lexus RX350. Lexus RX350 is quite expensive to maintain.

It's going to be my daily driver, but with work from home, I only drive about 20 miles a day. The 4runner would give me an excuse to get off the beaten path. The 2013 RX is priced at $21k, a 1 year newer/same mileage Highlander SE is $21.2k, and I've found a 2015 Limited 4runner with 60k miles 4x4 for $33k. So the RX is more expensive to maintain than the 4runner?

I will test drive it both to see what you like. Although Toyota and Lexus share the same parts, Lexus can be a tiny bit expensive to maintain. It's not that big of a deal.
