A local dealer has both of these vehicles on their lot. Though two very different vehicles, both would suit my needs.
I'm going to be taking a job later this year that will involve a fairly long daily commute (about 50 miles each way) in a snow state. So reliability and AWD capability are high on the list. I also want a bit of sportiness and a little luxury at this point in my life.
The Lexus currently has 108k miles with 1 owner, and the Acura has 87k with 2 owners. Both have AWD, both have a 3.5L V-6 mated to an automatic transmission. The asking price for the Lexus is a little higher than the Acura, but its a small difference and both are within my budget.
I'm leaning towards the Lexus because I'm historically more of a car guy. I also like that it has a timing chain rather than a belt and, IMHO, Toyota makes a little bit better automatic transmission than Honda.
OTOH, I do prefer the looks of the MDX, and the extra cargo space would be handy when I go camping and need to haul stuff around.
Obviously, I'm going to get a pre-purchase inspection before I buy either one. But anyone have experience with either vehicle?
TIA.
Both are great choices. The timing belt change on the Acura will probably balance out the premium for the Lexus. It really depends on what you want, a luxury sedan or a luxury performance SUV.
