1980 El Camino 305 v8. My turn signal works when it start up but will randomly stop. Sometimes it will work all tbe time and sometimes not for a couple of days. What could this be?

first try a new turn signal flasher that often fixes it if not on that old thing it usually means the turn signal stock switch assembly has gone bad
