In the midst of trying to source a transmission for a 99 RX300 FWD that has the 1MZ FE 3.0l engine.
I've found a 2002 Avalon with the same motor, but I can't seem to verify that it's the same U140E transmission.
Scotty or other community members, what transmission does the 2002 Toyota Avalon have?
Thanks a ton!
Grant
I checked and I could find a bunch of AWD transmissions for that car and I doubt those cars have the same trans but I could be wrong. Your talking about spending a small fortune to gamble with a used transmission nothing about that sounds like a good idea to me. You only have to spend a little more to get an entire car of one of those RX300's. I checked just to be sure: https://www.autotempest.com/results?make=lexus&maxyear=2003&model=rx300&radius=1000&transmission=auto&zip=90210
It's definitely not worth putting a transmission in when you can just buy another one for roughly the same price. Plus you can easily find a newer SUV to replace this one. I would sell whatever you can for parts off the one you have and the rest to a junkyard for scrap to recoup what you can.
I appreciate the response and understand where you're coming from, but cost wasn't my question.
Sry I got mixed up I we get a ton of questions. I've never ordered anything from this site but were you looking for this?
I found what I was looking for. Unfortunately the Avalon has a U541E transmission paired with the 1MZ FE motor. The RX300 FWD has the U140E transmission matched up with the 1MZ FE motor.
My buddy blew the head gasket in his Avalon, and I know the transmission is still good. I found the RX300 with a good motor but bad transmission and talked him down to $500. So I was gonna do the tranny swap to help my buddy out during tight times. But same motor, two different transmissions. Back to the drawing board 🤣
Ah man head gaskets are the worst. Is the old engine just toast? How bad did the head blow?
Well I put the bar and socket on to see if it would turn. Nope. Pulled the oil pan plug and about 10-12 qts of fluid came out. It was definitely that hybrid mix of oil and coolant 😆. I said how did you not hear this thing blow when it died? He told me I had the windows up and radio on 🤭😂
Oh jeez RIP engine.
