As title suggests once a month I do an undercarriage wash on my 2018 Chevrolet Trax and everytime my power locks stop working after words for about 3-5 days. Only power locks fail, including key fob, manual button inside car and app. The lights and everything go off just locks. This car has just over 100k and I take pretty good care of it so I don't know where or even what could be causing a short(if it's that)? Anyone able to point me to the right direction?
It only happens when I wash under the car
I'll venture a guess that sits NOT under the car that the water intrudes but the front end where the water shoots up to the firewall area and maybe higher. I would check after a wash where the areas are wet immediately. All the functions like the door lock, windows and fob are contained in the cab of the vehicle not undeneath.
BUT gm had done some stuoid things where they ran some wiring under the floor mats and moisture entered and started attacking them..but that was a while ago.
It would be interesting if you could choose the area to be washed - lets say rear half..then see if problems occur. Then front half..probably front half will be the area. Then past firewall to rear..get my drift?
From all the testing and looking and observing that I've done this seems to be the best answer that I can come to as well. It is quite cold out now so I can only wash the car when it gets warmer so I will be doing this test maybe within the coming week. I appreciate your feedback greatly and I'll keep this in mind when doing this.
Will provide any and all updates
