07 honda civic ex 270K miles, recently a message in the dashboard popped up saying check gas cap, proceeded to buy a new one at autosones but the message still pops up, only by putting a plastic bag with the gas cap seems to help not get the message to come back.
what is going on, should i get a gas cap from the stealership
vented or non vented gas cap might be the issue?
The fuel system is 'closed'. Your gas cap is non-vented. Putting plastic over the gas cap helped make it seal.
Some aftermarket gas caps just don't work, still Autozone might replace or refund..
Agreed, might as well try another one from auto zone.
I would get one off of amazon that tons of other people say works for your car.
