Unknown Ford Focus problem

Hello Scotty, I have a 2001 Ford Focus sedan that finally made me give up on a car. Along with being convinced myself, I’ve had many people and shops tell me that the reason it died on the highway was the alternator going bad. After replacing and testing a new alternator and battery I have had the car still refusing to turn over. It had a full tank of gas when it broke down but sounds to me like it is starving for fuel. Any kind of help or suggestion would be much appreciated. P.S. love the videos, they have helped with countless things here and there.

You said it wouldn't turn over but said it sounded like it was staving for fuel.  Could you elaborate?  Specifically does the starter activate and turn the engine over/rotate it but the car doesn't start?

@hillbilly
I believe I didn’t word it right, I didn’t want to Write too much. When I try and start it, on a rare occasion it will turn over but then after a few seconds will sputter out then die again but for the most part just chugs. Compression and spark is good and is not pulling any codes.

Gotcha, so it starts (sometimes) but won't stay running. I think your right about fuel. Get ya a gage and put on the fuel rail to verify this. Then replace filter and recheck.
