Hello Scotty I’m thinking about buying a used 2008 Mazda Miata MX-5 with 108,000 miles on it from a dealership for 7,600 . It’s RWD and a manual, I’d like to have it as my first official project car and a fun toy. What are some of the things to look out for on this particular model and is this a good buy? I currently have a AWD 99 mountaineer 5.0 and fix on that occasionally.
If it checks out then jump on it. The Miata is probably the best roadster ever made.
There are basically no serious problems with NC-series Miatas. Just have it checked, because most of them are driven “enthusiastically". Especially the ones with second and third owner. Stay away from one that was in, … say, more than just a "fender bender". Also, stay away from a modified ones, … you can always modify it yourself!
Anyway, … if it checks out OK by a mechanic, get one! It is indeed fun car to own and play with, …

i think tops are maybe $1000 to replace, supposed to be some drain holes behind the seats that may need cleaning out occasionally or rain may leak into the car
