Hello Mr.Kilmer,

I’ve been watching your videos about RAV4s and I saw the 2016 model is what you recommend.
Should I stay away from the hybrid versions completely since the cells are expensive to replace? since the newer 2018+ rav models are 8 cylinder instead of 6 would I be better off sticking with the  2016 version.

thank you Mr.Kilmer.

@coastiejoe
I don’t think Toyota Rav4 offers 8 cylinder engine.

Scotty always recommends the non hybrid version of vehicles for the simple reason that when the vehicle gets old, the hybrid system starts to break down & may cost a fortune to repair.

Having said that, Toyota makes the best hybrid systems out there and they’ve been perfecting it for the last few decades with the Prius, so that 2016 RAV4 will still last you a fair while.

If that’s what floats your goat, sure, go right ahead!

As with any used car, have an honest mechanic who specialises in Toyota hybrids, check it out for you. They will need a dealer level scan tool to check the health of the hybrid battery and generator.
