Used camry purchase

2018 Camry XLE with 104800 miles from local Toyota dealer.  clean carfax one owner.  I plan on getting an inspection from a third party before making the purchase.  What would be a fair price to offer on the car.  I am 68 and am  planning to get rid of a Nissan altima 2011 with 108000 miles by private sale. Altima has been a good car since we bought it in December of 2011 used with 5000 miles but Scotty has convinced me that I need to sell now before things start to go wrong. Going with the Camry for dependability. I plan on this being our last car!  We are retired and live in a small town in Mississippi and have averaged about 5000 miles a year in the 3 1/2 years we have lived here.

Please let me know what you think a fair offering amount would be.

Thank you

Good decision to get rid of the Nissan and move on to the Camry. Firstly, one of the things you should keep in the back of your head is that 1. that year had transmission shudder issues but a TSB was issued (view FAQ for more information) and it could have gotten fixed so have a mechanic check it out and 2. that is some high miles. I think a fair price would be around 15-16k as I see ones with lower miles go for around 17 18k. Also, if it is 100k city miles and the mechanic says it needs to have some work done as it is weared out, I'd pass on it. If it still has a lot of life left, you should be interested. The MSRP is around $30,000 so if you get it for $15,000 for with 70 80 percent of its life still left, that could be a good deal.

But with the miles, I'd consider looking around for a lower mileage one. Also the price difference between 2018 and 2019 is not that significant and 2019 fixed some issues so I'd look for a 2019 with lower miles especially if its still under 20k.
