Hi Scotty. So me and my two boys will be leaving for Florida from Akron Oh in two weeks. We will be hitting 3 destinations. 2 to visit family and one to stay on the ocean for a couple of days. I have it figured that we will drive about 2700 miles round trip in 9 days. I have 2 vehicles to choose from to take. The first is a 2015 Chevy Impala with the 4 cylinder that I've owned since new. It has 120,000 miles. It runs fine but I worry it might break down on the road. It's never been on a long trip like that. The 2nd vehicle is a 2018 F-150 with the 5.0. it currently has 77,000 miles. I just bought it 3 months ago. With the price of rental vehicles I just cannot rent anything and have to take one of these. I realize I will use alot more gas in the truck, but I've budgeted for that. If it were you which vehicle would you take?? I know you are not a Chevy fan but you talk highly of the F-150. I just want to get there and back with no issues. Thank you.

I would go with the Ford.

Have the Ford inspected before taking it on the trip.

The truck seems like it would be more comfortable.

If you ask me, they're both around the same in terms of reliability.

At least in the Impala, all your things are secure and dry in the trunk or back seat. A person can also stretch out if they need to. Personally, I think a sedan would just be more comfortable for long trips. And hey, the money you save on fuel is more spending money for you guys.

Just make sure your emergency kit is in good shape. (jack, spare etc.)
