Who Should I Bring My Compass to?

Hello Sir,

I live in MA and own a 2011 Jeep Compass Latitude, 2.4L 4x4. It is automatic, has 94.5k miles, and has suspension issues.

I know you hate newer Chrysler products, and I am starting to as well, but as the used car market continues to balloon, I have to try my best with what I have.

My whole front end rattles when driving over the smallest of bumps. The struts look and sound fine when bounced, but the lower control arm bushings are worn out pretty badly. I am planning on replacing the control arms.

There are, however, rear end issues that are beyond my ability to diagnose. The rear left strut squeaks something fierce when I bounce it, and the rear left “something” clicks once very loudly when I take left turns at any speed. The CV joints and covers look fine, but the differential has a bit of fluid on it, although I don’t have any drips on the ground.

I will be replacing the rotors soon and as I said some of the front end. I’d like to get the rear diagnosed honestly so that I could do the work all at once and then get it aligned. Do you have any guys in the Boston area you may recommend? Do you recommend a Jeep dealer? I haven’t had the best experience with dealer honesty.

Thanks for your time, Love the channel.

Good plan. Check stabilizer bar too.

Spray some lubricant on each suspension part until squeak goes away. Now you've found culprit. Changing the rear struts shouldn't be too bad of a job.

Leave it. As long as you keep the fluid level up, a bit of fluid seep won't hurt anything.
