Hi,
I have a 2014 Toyota Venza 6 cylinder that requires a special oil filter wrench as this year doesn't have the normal screw on filter that almost everyone else has. Can anyone recommend a heavy duty one? Anything I look up online has comments indicating they are really flimsy and break after limited use.
You can get them from the Toyota dealership. The part number is 39564-10944. They are expensive but they have a lifetime warranty.
That's what I'm looking for, thanks!
They break because folks over tighten the filter! Solution to this is to understand what’s going on: … note the O-ring location vis-a-vis other parts. It’s an O-ring that keeps an oil from leaking! This means that all you have to do is tighten it just hand tight, … that’s it. I mean, … just light hand tight!

Absolutely, but I don't have the time to always change my oil personally. Since I am going to buy one for those instances where the garage over tightens it, I was hoping to get one that I wouldn't have to replace after a few uses.
Well, if a garage over-tightens Toyota, … or any other oil filter for that matter, during servicing, then that is not a garage that one should trust with servicing of his or her vehicle!
Anyway, … max torque on that oil filter casing is 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs) and that should never be exceeded. Those casings are notorious for cracking! Just think what happens if it’s over tightened, it cracks and you just drive away?

Buy a metal one. I got one from Amazon for my Camry. The torque for my Camry is 18 ft/lb, I use a torque wrench when tightening it. I cannot properly tighten it by hand like I do spin-on filters.
