Hey Scotty!
I've got my mind set on buying a Volvo V50.
I know, I know... this model isn't an authentic Volvo; built using a C-platform Ford motor.
However, I'm sold on the car's design.
I live in Northern Europe, so spare parts & Volvo specialists aren't an issue.
Which editions would you recommend?
I've heard that - on average - the 2.4 l petrol engines experience fewer issues than the 1.6/1.8/2.0 liter petrol engines.
I've got around 6,000 euros to spend.
Cheers!
Hy!
As I am familiar, they have more problems with diesel engines. I'd also make sure if it was repaired/serviced under recalls since there were bunch of them. There are some basic info that might interest you (Link).
Anyway, inspection by a mechanic is a must if you like it.
Good luck!
*of course, considering that 2.4 liter petrol engines are 5 cylinder engines, versus the 4 cylinder engines (1.6, 1.8, 2.0).
Make sure to have a mechanic check one out and get one that was maintained. Mechanical parts would be cheaper because around 60% of the parts are shared with the Ford Focus.
