My mom has a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 3.7 V6 engine and an automatic transmission. It has about 120,000 miles on it and has been maintained with with oil changes and spark plug replacements. However, I don't think we've ever changed the transmission fluid. It's not really slipping, and it doesn't seem to have shifting problems. Should I go ahead and change the fluid out or do you think I should just wait to start having problems to change it? I've heard stories of people having perfectly functioning automatic transmissions; they changed the fluid, and afterwards the transmission starts acting up.

Well, do NOT flush the trans - that is the thing that will most likely cause problems. Here's Scotty on the topic
