Volvo V70: Gear Shift will not move until engine warms up

I have a 2007 Volvo V70, 2.4L, Auto Transmission.  I recently replaced the sensor on the brake pedal that controls the brake lights and gear shift release (when you push on the brakes).  Now the gear shift will not release out of park (nor do the brake lights work) until the engine has warmed up for about 5 minutes.  I have checked the transmission fluid, and it is fine.   Any suggestions?  Thank you, Paul in Tennessee

Thanks Scotty. The wiring is a bit above my head. Do you have a mechanic recommendation in or near Franklin, TN?

Scotty doesn't revisit the same question. Check the FAQ, there maybe one near Franklin, Tennessee.

Well I would assume you got a bad sensor if it's not original equipment. That or the wiring has a problem where it's not connected. Very tightly or it's worn and it has to have electricity to it for a few minutes until it warms up and then sends power.
