2014 Honda CRV EXL (K4 engine) 70k miles. No codes.
as you know this vehicle is included with the Honda 2.4 VTC actuator rattle on cold startup.
Two years ago, I replaced the actuator. Upon inspection, chain was stretched. Replaced chain. Everything was good. Less than a year later, rattle began. Part was my fault, I didn’t use OEM part for actuator. so, I went and tried stretching the pin spring inside. That lasted only a week or so.
my question is: should I harass Honda for the OEM part that they put on the 2015 and 2016 models that doesn’t rattle, or buy the stiffer spring that can be found on amazon?
