Vw gli 2014, timing chain blew at 87 000 km and now at 132 000 km, the engine blew. (Pieces of metal found in the old pan. I don’t think vw will help. Any suggestions?

Put a new engine and sell that junk, Or maybe you should just sell as is. 


Yes VW timing chains are junk! Just sell it as-is if you can or put a super cheap used one in. That engine is definitely toast since the timing chain snapped on an interference engine.

Here's a suggestion: Listen to engine and transmission noise on the 4Runner Scotty recently reviewed--those are noises after 750,000 km and they sound about the same as when that 4Runner had 75,000 km:

Any time in the future that you're tempted to shell out money over a VW/Audi product, listen to various noises on that 4Runner to pull you out of your daydream 🙂

Most vw or euro cars must and i mean must have the timing belt changed at around the 60 to 80 yhousand mile mark all rubber now not chains which can last forever if a belt goes and belive me you can tell dont rev car knock it out of gear and cost to a stop if your lucky you might save the engine hopevthis helps ivan from uk

The problem mentioned was not with a rubber timing belt but with a metal timing chain. Apparently, a common problem:

Well that must be an american thing as all euro ones are rubber theve never had metal chains in yhem since the 80,s mk 2 golfs
