My A/C has had an uncorrected leak for several years now. I had not charged it in a couple of yoears. last week I hired a mechanic to charge my A/C. Right after he charged my A/C he let the motor idle for several minutes soon the water pump started spraying coolant. I immediately turned off the ignition. After the motor cooled, I drove home. I installed a new OEM water pump. It did the same thing, except it only took longer w/o the A/C on. My fans did not turn on either. I unplugged the coolant temperature sensor connector are re-connected it and the fans turned on. The car got maximumly hot during my longer test drive today. I had to pull over and allow the engine to cool and add more coolant to the reservoir. Suggestions please?
Either the new pump is defective, its gasket improperly installed, a hose connected to it is leaking, or the coolant leak is actually coming from somewhere else.
@chucktobias It must've been the gasket It onl leaked thru the weep hole.
If you're getting coolant out of the weep hole the seal in the pump is bad.
