Hello Mr. Kilmer,
First of all thank you for your help and sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us.
A year ago I bought 2007 Toyota RAV4 Limited I4 2.4L and it was not in bad shape with about 160k miles and no CEL and no codes, but still I did many things to maintain it and get it back to "Its young age" as possible, anything that was recommended to replace whether because it was needed or it was going to be needed later or it wasn't functioning fully 🙃
All brake pads and rotors, all struts and shocks, all engine and transmission mounts, front sway bar links, battery and alternator, all tires, spark plugs, air and cabin filters, throttle body cleaning, radiator, fan assembly, drained not flush the transmission fluid twice within a month and of course oil and filter changes, the compressor broke down and installed the AC Kit (Compressor, Condenser and Expansion Valve)
The issue is that when I bought it and after doing all this maintenance still there's "humming or idle noise" with slight vibration (Not major shakes nor vibrations can be felt with the hands on the steering wheel) that can be heard and feel it in the ears! If you know what I mean, and that is only when shifting gear from P and N to Reverse and Drive gears while the vehicle is not moving with stepping on brakes whether it's right before driving the vehicle or on complete stops on the road, but this noise is gone when it's on P and N and it's not there while driving just when not moving / complete stop and stepping down on the brake.
Can you or anyone please help me out with finding why is that happening and how to fix it if possible?
Looking forward to hearing from you and I'll appreciate it very much.
Thanks,
FM
It seems to be a torque converter issue. You may take it to a transmission shop but it cost a fortune to fix it. Leave it alone or of it bothers you, put in park whenever possible to avoid the shake.
Thank you for the reply and I just want to know if this is going to lead to a major issues later or it's just a matter of annoying minor vibration and humming noise more than being an indicator of a mechanical problem!
