Hi Scotty ,
I noticed that my swirl flap plastic trim is broken and the little pump that pulls them is not connected to it.
I connected it and engine started rattling so i better of returned back into a position that it was until now and it wasnt rattling.
I know that they should close on idle and open on throttle. My sparkplugs look good ,dry and tan color and there is no check engine light or codes related to lean/rich air fuel mixture.
What can happen if on idle flaps are open instead of being closed , can it damage the engine ?
The car model is Opel Astra H with 120 miles.

That's not really going to damage anything. You might get a little bit worse. Gas mileage. That's all that complex. Crap is added on cars for today just to get a little bit better gas mileage
