We got a new coolant overflow jug for our 2009 Toyota corolla and my 2005 dodge Dakota and put in a mix of 50/50 mix of prestone for each one but it is too light to just look and go on what can I add to change the color to say red that will not harm anything?? I do my own regular maint and don't want to buy a special dye and light if possible?? Thanks, Everyone for all your help!!!
Nothing. You should not add anything to the coolant.
Morning Thanks for the Reply I am a little blind is why I was asking I don't want to miss something. Would the leak dyes actually hurt it? Plus could I see it in the resivor?? Do you have any other suggestions to my problem?? Thanks so much for all your help!! It is much appreciated!!
The issue is that the coolants have so many chemicals to protect the engine against corrosion, adding another chemical could possibly react with them and you may have serious issues. Use a color flashlight and shine the light from behind the reservoir instead.
