Hey Scotty,
I have a 2002 BMW 325i automatic with 227000 miles on it. I recently have done a lot of repairs on it. Such as, engine mounts, transmission mounts, respective fluid changes, rear main seal, differential maintenance, bushings and subframe mounts to name a few. Unfortunately, the rear main seal job was done poorly, and had to be redone (free of charge of course) but in addition to expensive parts and maintence, it also has been hard to find a reliable mechanic for this car. I love the car, but I'm worried I am just going down a journey of one expensive repair to another. My ultimate question is, Ive been thinking about getting another more reliable car that is also cheaper to fix and maintain. However, my budget is limited and I'm worried if I get a toyota or honda with 150k+ miles that I will be switching one problem for another? What do you think?
Best,
James
if you go for 150+K miles vehicle I would go for a Toyota and have a good mechanic checked before you buy it. It can go for long time with basic maintenance. If you can go for manual transmission even longer, but Toyota automatic are sufficiently reliable.
