The upper hose busted and steam was rolling out. I replaced the hose within the hour and refilled the antifreeze and replaced the thermostat and it sounds normal and the radiator fans kicked on then they turned off but after a little bit they didn't turn back on and the car is still over heating.. could it be that the fans are bad?
you might have air trapped in the system which has to work its way out.
You can test the fans by connecting them directly to 12v.
How could I get the air out?
Try parking the car on a steep uphill so the front is the highest point. Carefully open the radiator cap. Run the engine until it gets nice and hot, and coolant starts flowing through the radiator. Raise the engine RPM a bit to get the pump moving faster. Watch to see if the level goes down and top up as needed. Check a repair manual to see if your car has any air bleeder screws.
