I would like to buy a Honda HR-V. Can anyone recommend this vehicle?
This is the engine that’s in the old 1.8L Civic.

As long as it checks out, and the CVT is in good shape, the HR-V can be a great choice.
Those are good vehicles especially since they come with the naturally aspirated 1.8L port injected I4 engine. 2018-2021 had fewer issues than the earlier ones in that generation (2016 and 2017). Be sure to have an independent, honest mechanic thoroughly check it out before you buy.

Overall, a bouncy, buzzy reliable Honda.
Honda updated the CVT transmission, seats and suspension in 2019. Maybe go for that year or later.
Thank you..great information.
Honda's reliability goes back and forth. I wouldn't touch the 1.8 engine due to oil dilution issues.
The R18 has oil dilution too?
The R18Z9 1.8L naturally aspirated I4 is a good engine and has been around for a while. Naturally aspirated, port injection, single overhead cam (SOHC), timing chain - what’s not to love? It’s definitely not susceptible to the oil dilution issues seen on other Honda engines (smaller turbocharged GDI).
