Should I buy a Honda HR-V

Hi Scotty and everyone. I'm looking to buy a car that will be very reliable, that has enough cargo space for a person to sleep in if necessary, and that costs less than 25,000 dollars new. I'm also open to buying certified pre-owned and used cars, though I would like to have this car for a long time. Does a Honda HR-V fit the bill? It seems like Scotty is disappointed in some of the newer Hondas and Toyotas, but I can't find a video about the HR-V specifically. Does anyone have any helpful thoughts on this? Any feedback is much appreciated. I have been researching for almost a year and still can't figure out the best way to go.

My personal opinion is you’ll be better off with a CR-V instead, but the HR-V is not a bad option at all.

Just realize it’s based on the Fit platform, so the ride quality is pretty ordinary.

If buying used, have it inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase.

Good luck!

I think HR-V are great cars for their size.  They seem to be about the size of the original CR-V, as the CR-V has grown in size for last 3 generations.

The brand new next generation HR-V is on the horizon. So if you are feeling adventurous, hold off for the next generation.  But if you want tried, true, and tested, the last year of this generation is probably the best built because they have all the kinks worked out.

FWIW, the comparable Toyota to the HR-V would be the Toyota CH-R.  I personally like the Honda look and user interface better than the Toyota.  But both would be great choices.

They are great cars, especially considering the Toyota competitor, the CH-R, isn't that practical compared to the Honda HR-V, which is IMO better engineered.

The Honda HRV and the Honda Fit are considered the best vehicles Hondas ever make. It is better than the Toyota Yaris and Toyota CHR(Honda's competitor) for practicality. I sit in the Honda HRV once and it's a good car for its money. I might as well get the Honda HRV as a basic first car when I'm 16.
