Thanks for your channel! My son is going to college out of state and his high school car is not up to the task. Its a struggle to buy a new car but it comes with a warranty which is kind of necessary. The Chevy Trax ($20K) is a big contender but the 1.2L is very concerning. Only other solution is going up in price. Suggestions? Forester, CX-5, etc
The Chevy Trax ($20K) is a big contender
It's a big contender for quickly falling apart, particularly once the factory warranty expires. Bear in mind that all new cars have quality problems (some mechanics say they are all junk) but some are definitely worse than others.
Also good luck actually finding a Trax with an out-the-door price of $20K before taxes and government fees. The advertised price on dealer web sites is rarely the real selling price.
Suggestions? Forester, CX-5, etc
Almost anything Japanese is going to be better than a Trax, Nissan and Mitsubishi excepted. Stay away from Hyundai/Kia products as well.
See "Vehicles Reviewed by Scotty" on this site.
Try an older Toyota. They typically run forever and you can find em decently priced off fb marketplace, etc.
