Honda HRV reliability

Hey Scotty,

I am looking at buying a 2016 or 2017 Honda HRV. I will probably purchase an automatic, which has a CVT. I know a lot of mechanics have mixed opinions about the CVT. What is your opinion on the HRV? And do you think the CVT will diminish the reliability?

Thanks.

The HRVs are very reliable and Honda is actually better at making CVTs then they are at traditional automatics.

Honda CVT's, so far, have not experienced the same issues as other companies have had. And the HRV is reliable.

I'd say go for it if you like it and it's in your budget.

The Honda HR-V is an excellent crossover, probably the best in the sub-compact class. The CVTs didn't have problems in the Honda Fit/HR-V and it should last you a long time. 2016 was the first year so some kinks may not have been addressed yet, so I would swing for a 2017 but you can't go wrong with an HR-V.
