Hey Scotty, I am looking for the best new full sized SUV that is dependable, reliable, solidly built and something to keep for years and I'm not worrying about fuel economy. What do you recommend me to get.

I have a list of some SUVs in mind: Lexus LX570, Toyota Land Cruiser, Lincoln Navigator, Ford Expedition, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes G Wagon or GLS, Range Rover, or the BMW X7.

Thank you,

Kirby.

Buy or lease?  How many miles do you need it to last you?

I suggest the lexus gx460, no question. For $50,000, you get a bulletproof truck that is also easy enough to manuever between parkign spaces, has a better turning radius, and "better" gas miles than a full on lx570.

If you are considering a brand new SUV only (not to be confused with CUV, btw) and buying (not leasing) and want to keep for as long as possible with minimal issues then the short list is really Toyota Sequoia, Land Cruiser, Lexus LX570, Lexus GX460.  The Land Cruiser is very expensive for what it offers - and I am not sure I would end up buying that (if it were me).

Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes G Wagon or GLS, Range Rover, or the BMW X7 are the cars you should stick to......

If you want a cool looking car that breaks down, is expensive to maintain and repair, and has no resale value after 10 years.

Toyota Sequoia hands down.

They cost between 50 and 70K if you can get one. They are even expensive used. It certainly is big. They are popular and the dealers are getting MSRP plus 10% and they are tacking on all these extra fees. All the ones being imported into the states are the stripped down models. I visited some friends in Australia before covid. You should see what you get standard that we in the states have to pay extra for. I was thinking of buying one when I got back. But then I went shopping I was astonished. Outlandish markups on striped down base line models. They think all Americans deserve to get soaked. Imagine hand crank windows on a 50 thousand dollar vehicle.

I know I will get hate mail but I bought a Kia Sorento. MSRP 32K and were happy to get it. Seats seven, Plenty of room, get 25 mpg and handles very well. Has a much better ride than a Sequoia which is built on a truck frame. The Teluride  is even bigger and still not as expensive as a Sequoia. Like I said I expect a lot of hate mail.
