I was wondering what problems a new gmc terrain would have at a certain point my mom's terrain is a 2021 FWD 1.5 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder 9 speed automatic terrain and it already has 5k miles and several weeks ago the power liftgate mysteriously opened I don't know how and my mom doesn't even know how what other issues does this engine get

This is why Scotty warns people about GM products. The quality is literally as bad as garbage, if not worse.
On those, I would watch out for issues related to the 1.5L turbo I4 engine (which is already under strain), 9-speed transmission (GM designed and a weak point), and electrical gremlins over time. I would change engine oil every 5,000 miles max and transmission fluid every 30,000-40,000 miles; baby the vehicle, don’t drive hard (and certainly don’t tow). See below:

It’s a direct injection engine, IIRC.
I suggest looking around how to clean direct injection engines valves. I haven’t had to deal with it myself, but supposedly carbon builds up on the valves, and cleaning the valves somehow may prolong the life of the engine.
Those are prone to timing chain and engine problems. Dont skimp on oil changes
