Planning to sell my 2012 Accord and buy new car. Any tips on selling to get the most $$$? Definitely not trading in at a stealership. Checked with Carmax and Carvana but wonder if selling on Craigslist or Marketplace is a better choice (I'm not on the main road to display it). Never sold anything on Marketplace so not sure how risky it is.. How do you guys sell your cars? If this question is not appropriate on here, please delete it.
They're not any better but they do offer free advertisement. You just want someone to buy your car so advertise it on Craigslist AND Marketplace too.selling on Craigslist or Marketplace is a better choice
The advantage of selling on Facebook (or Nextdoor) compared with Craigslist is that if someone has a Facebook or Nextdoor account, you can check their accounts (or do a search on their names) and see that they are "real" people with fixed addresses, friends, neighbors and relatives.
With Craigslist, the ads and buyers are pretty much totally anonymous, and thus more likely to be scammers, often professional scammers living in foreign countries.
I find the Craiglist ads to be more amusing than useful, as frequently the pictures of vehicles are copied from other ads (and used repeatedly in several different cities - use Google's picture search) and the prices are often ridiculously low to attract attention from unsuspecting buyers.

Craigslist is full of scammers and lowballers and generally scuzzy people that you'll need to deal with. You didn't say where the marketplace you're thinking about is located.
@chucktobias I meant FB Marketplace but I guess probably same as CL. Never tried any of them.
Probably even worse than Craig's.
OK, thank you guys! I'll try to advertise somewhere and see what happens. I just need to be very careful, especially when selling on CL and FB.
