Hey Scotty, which rack and pinion would you think is the most durable to use? My mom has a 2006 Honda Civic coupe with 128K miles on it and it needs a new one as soon as possible since it hasn't been steering as smooth as it was when my mom first got it six years ago so what is your recommendation? Thanks!
buy a new one from a reputable company that offers a good warranty.
But how do you know it's worn out? It's a bit unusual for a car with only 128k. Have you checked your tie rod ends etc? Had the alignment checked?
Okay. Thanks for pointing that out too. I'll check that out. All I know for now, it just needs struts because of how rough it's riding right now but yeah, I'll look at the tie rods and the alignment. In your opinion, what would you think is a good recommendation for any reputable company that sells them if I do need a new rack?
no idea. I've never needed to buy a R&P, and if I did now I'd give it to a mechanic.
It’s not clear if your issue is the rack and pinion, but if it turns out to be the case then go with OEM. Any pain in the you know what job that you don’t want to repeat definitely go with OEM unless the OEM is a weak spot and the aftermarket has a fix for it.
