Wheel chocks: steel or rubber?

Basically the title. What’s better? I accidentally tried to back up with my steel chocks behind me and bent them. Looks like I could bend them back but idk how I’d feel about doing that. I was just going to get a new set of steel ones but now I’m reading that solid rubber ones are better. What do you guys think?

I like metal but believe either material is fine, it's the build quality that matters to me

However, I've been known to use a piece of firewood as a chock.

I'm sure either are better than nothing. I made my own out of wood scrap

I mostly have used rubber chocks but in a pinch have used old brake rotors.

@chucktobias I’ve used old brake rotors before too. Originally I kept them because I figured I could get a few bucks for them at the scrapyard but then I realized how handy they were 😆
