I own a 1997 Chevy k1500 5.7L v8 with 248,000 miles. There is a whining noise coming from the engine. The noise sounds like it’s coming from the back or the middle of the engine. I think it could be a vacuum leak but I’m not sure if it is.

Vacuum leaks don't whine whining noise is generally bearings and in a case of that if it's coming from the back of the engine The whining engine bearings are more in the front it could actually be coming from the front of the transmission which would make total sensor one of those is when the transmission's wear out they make whining noises
