why are Volkswagens made in Germany more reliable (diesel) than those made in USA .They of run for long time there. I have seen cars that do 300,000 or 400,000 miles. any reason behind this

Yes, quality control in Germany is much better.

Depends, if you ARE in Europe and its made in Germany, then the quality and reliability is 100 times better.
If you are in the US, but its made in Germany, the quality and reliability is still better, but they still tend to be expensive to repair and maintain because no body knows how to work on them.
