[Solved] Different brands of brake pads have different thickness

Hey Scotty,

im from Germany and currently i have switched to a Mazda 6 GG1 2.0L 2003 Manual. I boughed the (ATE 13.0460-5821.2) brake pads, which should fit according to the specification sheet. I set the brake piston back (full in), but the mounting doesn't fit, because they are too thick. According to the sheet, they have 18.6 mm. Some brands have 16mm, but they're not available.

I experienced similar situations with my previous Mitsubishi Galant 2.0.

The thickness of the two brake pads and the brake disc exceeds the available space in the caliper.

So why is the thickness on different brands so random? (16mm,18mm,19mm).

You may be shocked to learn this, but rotor thickness varies too! 😱 What is the world coming to.
