Why does Ford use flex pipes, to make more money when they fail 🙂 Other auto manufactures don't use them and they have no problem with broken bolt vibration issues? How do they expect 02 sensors to work correctly if exhaust gases leak from the flex pipes? This is just stupid! smh

Yup! Also since flex pipes are installed behind the catalytic convertor to help prevent exhaust manifold fatigue using damping hangers with flex wire mesh would accomplish the same thing while eliminating the unnecessary cost of flex pipes and their replacement, namely my 2007 Ford Focus that needs the front flex pipe replaced!

The other manufactures used it before but I don’t think they use anymore.

To be fair I fully understand the 02 sensors are installed after the catalytic convertor but as back pressure changes so does the air-fuel mixture?

It's old technology and an old way of doing things. Most other manufacturers did the same in the past but not anymore. My guess is it is low on their list of things to update (even though they really should).
