why does my car continue to long crank before starting? its literally the only issue aside from getting 21mpg in town.

maf cleaned, throttle body cleaned 2 months ago, using clean k n box filter.

injectors cleaned used bg 44k and bunch of other pea cleaners over couple months like gumout and redline sl1.

mechanic said fuel lines and pump working fine

good gas never fill up under quarter left.

i read hondas always have bad starters how do i test if this is the issues as car only has 70k miles. 2010 honda accord 4cyl auto

please help thx

Sounds like a fuel delivery/pressure issue to me. You should install a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail port. Turn the key to run position for 3 seconds and then turn it off. Repeat that two more times then see what the gauge reads if it is in spec. Then watch the gauge, leave it for an hour and come back. If pressure bled down you have an issue. Pumps can push fuel and not hold pressure.

Also the 3 second run position trick. Do that 3-4 times before you try to start it and see if your crank times shorten up.

That doeent work. Only thing is pumping gas to the floor release then cranking

Same thing basically. Sounds like your not holding fuel pressure. Use a gauge.

mech said no point changing fuel filter as u would have to change entire pump assembly does that sound right

Yes, you have an access plate so it’s not that big a deal. You really need to see if you hold fuel pressure. Use a gauge. It could be fuel pump, cracked fuel line sucking air, etc..... You also have a fuel pressure regulator. There are kits on internet to hook unto the fuel line for a gauge. Any mechanic worth his weight should have one. Here’s a vid with a very intuitive kid doing his.

Or, you could run the car, cut it off, and immediately disconnect the fuel line. If it squirts really good your holding pressure. If it just dribbles chances are your fuel pump has a bad check valve.

I’m with @yaser on this one. Bad mpg & long cranking - bad fuel pump is a high suspect.

If the car cranks, the starter should be fine and you may have other issues. Does it also do when the engine is warmed up?

If ive been driving a while go to a drive thru get a drink, turn off then after 5 min turn back on it cranks over without pumping gas

Have you replaced the fuel pump yet? You can also take it to the a Honda dealer if mechanics can’t find out what the issue is.

Fuel pump is working fine as i can hear it priming in selection option. You think its just a clogged fuel filter?

Just today I installed a new CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR as car got the code twice now due to long crank. a temporary solution is pressing gas then turning on car it turn on slightly faster now. after i changed the part, still long cranks btw
