I have a 2006 Chevy malibu 3.5L. The car’s fans turn on only when the a/c is on but not when it’s overheating. It does not overheat when the a/c is on. I changed the engine coolant temperature sensor, but it didn’t do anything. I have checked all fuses and relays. I what could be causing this.

There may be a separate temperature sensor to operate the fan when the engine heats up. Those are typically located either in one of the radiator tanks or in a hose fitting.
Thank you will check on that right now.
